  • About Eastern Indiana Regional Workforce Board

Eastern Indiana Regional Workforce Board (EIRWB) is one of eleven Regional Workforce Boards in Indiana organized in the fall of 2005. The EIRWB members are appointed by the Local Elected Officials who represent the counties and eligible cities which make up the region including Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush, Union and Wayne counties in Indiana. EIRWB is responsible for the planning and oversight of workforce development; particularly as it relates to economic development in Economic Growth Region 6. The public face of the Regional Workforce Board is WorkOne.

The Regional Workforce Board has hired Alliance for Strategic Growth, Inc., an Indiana nonprofit corporation, as its Fiscal Agent, Executive Staff and Region Operator to manage the state and local staff who provide services through the WorkOne Centers.

The mantra of the body could well be summarized as "thinking locally and acting regionally". Broad strategic goals include:

    1. Increase educational attainment of our citizens and
    2. Create occupational skill shortages through job growth – including new business development through entrepreneurship support.

These strategic goals are aimed at achieving the following measures:

    >Increase the awareness of available careers
    >Enhance business – education connect
    >Increase per capita income of Eastern Indiana citizens
    >Grow the jobs in Eastern Indiana by working in promising sectors

These measures are achieved by forming strategic alliances with stakeholder like economic development, education, government, community/faith based organizations and labor entities. The current industry sectors of focus for training the workforce include

    1) Advanced Manufacturing,

    2) Agribusiness, including Alternative Energy,

    3) Healthcare,

    4) Warehouse & Logistics,

    5) Contact Centers and

    6) Entrepreneurship.
