Entrepreneur

Start Up Indiana is a website to connect start-up and growing companies with potential investors ("angel" investors). Entrepreneurs post their plan or summary and the StartUp Screening Committee looks over the plan and helps the entrepreneur with areas that need attention (if any). After the plan is deemed complete and acceptable, it is passed on to the angel investors to review and consider for financing.
The objective is to provide funding to assist early-to-growth stage companies with startup costs in the areas of marketing studies, feasibility studies, business plan development and technology evaluations. The company must reside in the nine county region (Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne), have the potential to increase jobs or retain employment in the region, be seeking new investment, and be projected to generate new investment. GrowthStart can match 1:1 up to $10,000 in funds for the above objectives.

BOSS (Business Opportunities for Self Starters) is a curriculum for High School students to help them develop and write a business plan. This program has been presented in the summer as a two week course and a semester in school. It is a total of 54 hours of instruction. The curriculum was written by Tim Scales, Director of Center for Entrepreneurship at IU East, and he also trained the teachers on how to incorporate the curriculum in the classroom.

Our Vision
The ISBDC Network aims to accomplish its mission through a continuous focus on impact, realizing it is not enough to hold training events and meet with clients, but that tangible value needs to be provided to our clients as a result of outcome-focused SBDC engagement. All engagement has a primary focus on the existing entrepreneur or business and on viable new business opportunities with the prompt identification, documentation, and communication of client needs and action plans.
